A design flaw or oversight? Either way, you could do some damage by just leaning on your car.
A fella on vortex posted about a dent in his rear quarter panel caused by a screw from his CD changer/Amp mount in the back - read here.
Basically, one of the screws used to hold the mount in place was driven in too deep. When pressure is applied from the outside it causes the screw to press through, denting the panel outward and cracking the paint. I had the same thing happen to me when I bought my 04 Golf, though it was already dented when I went to pick it up at the dealer. I’m not sure how this screw is put in (by hand or machine) but just be aware - if you’re looking to buy a Golf/GTI, ask your salesman about it. If you already own one, take a gander at that screw or have your dealer do it for ya.
