Do You Wave at Fellow Dubbers?

On my way home today at an intersection, I got the wave from a fellow indigo blue GTI owner. Of course, I signaled back! The GTI was lightly modded, with a suspension drop and various other cosmetic adjustments. As we passed each other through the intersection, we each gave a nod and a quick wave.

It’s great to have comradery like that among the Volkswagen community. How often do you see another VW rolling along, whether it’s modified or not, and wanted to give a wave to the driver only to have them look at you like a lunatic? That’s usually the type of reception you’ll receive. And it’s unfortunate. People nowadays are so reclusive (well, in the suburban communities at least) that even if you breathe wrong around them, they might get infuriated.

I’ve got an idea for a VW-only wave. One person does the “V”, and the other throws up the “W”. lol Now the problem is figuring out who signals first with the “V”. :P

  2. I just hope the dub wave isn’t interpreted as a gang sign! Although… I guess you could say that that is exactly what it is!

I have to say that I was highly disappointed with my fellow Bug owners in the Greater Cincinnati area. I have not experienced said comardery with other Newbies that I have passed, and I was expecting to when I got the bug (ESPECIALLY with the culture surrounding the Beetle!). Perhaps I should be the one initiating the Newbie Nod…
