Will the GX3 Concept see Light? Maybe.

I was so geeked when I first saw the GX3 3-wheel concept from Volkswagen’s Moonraker team. I would buy one right now if they released it. Sounds like my dreams of commuting to work 3-wheel-stylz might be dashed into thousands of pieces.

GX3 Volkswagen Concept

LeftLaneNews.com just posted that Volkswagen might be getting cold feet with the GX3. UGH!!! C’mon VW. Don’t fear to break the mold, be different, go out on a limb, take a chance, insert other quaint quote here.

Volkswagen states that they are considering a sub-brand to sell the GX3, prompted by concerns over safety, handling and public reaction to the concept. Hmm. To me, the concerns don’t necessarily warrant VW’s hesitation. They can address safety. From the initial specs it already looks to live up to current standards. And about handling. Why are they concerned about handling? You have a 3-wheel, what is essentially a motorcycle, with a 1.6l engine strapped to the back. And public reaction, from what I can see of others’ reactions to the concept, is overall good.

Maybe I’m just blinded by love. Will you at least make one for me, VW?

  1. Frankly, I think the GX3 is badass. You are correct, this is legally a motorcycle. The problem is this: price. From what I remember when I first read about this bad-boy is that the estimated sticker would be somewhere around 15-20k… Which puts you up near Ducati-level prices… and for that much, I would have to sport the Italian hotness.

Yeah, definitely MKIV. That would be a major difference for me. Rockin’ a Ducati would be a lifetime experience, but man… rolling something that unique. I don’t care. I gotta have it. hahahah

  5. I say:build it!I own and drive all4major jap brand bikes, have a72muscle car,a current late fr.whl.dr.economy car,3aircooled bugs, karman ghia,66vw van! So…being an”A”level tech in top dealerships for over 24 years I have not only seen it all(street&dirt side car set-ups,volks fronted bikes, open&closed rails,v8&vw trikes,t-rex,bla,bla,etc)but have also had to work on this stuff at private shops &dealers. The price is right Bob!Although deemed a bike. You cant compare;2wheel consumers will buy2wheelers and not consider a trike!People intrested in this new volkswagen will buy it!This would definitly be the first”0″mile brand new vehicle I have ever wanted to buy(and actually be able to afford!)SIGN ME UP! VOLKSWAGEN HEAR MY CALL!AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT ARE NOT JUST FANATICS!BUILD IT,SELL IT,WE WILL BE PART. Anton
