“Doing for car culture what the Kinsey Reports did for sex in the 50s.”
For those who don’t know (as I didn’t) the Kinsey Reports where two books on human sexual behavior that discussed findings from interviews with ordinary people and dairies from various sexual offenders. The results shocked the general public, and helped to trigger a movement toward sexual awareness. Basically, it was heavy stuff for 1948.
So how does VW plan to tie this in with the Jetta? They’ve created a poll site for drivers to answer various questions about their habits, what they do for fun, their views and whatever else VW might want to know. The overall tone of the site is fun, making you want to know a bit more about your fellow drivers (most of which are VW lovers of course). And they ask some rather straightforward questions. For example:

All in all, the site is really interesting and fun. I do wish there was more of a payoff for answering all the questions in a particular area though. I took out all 45 or so in the “people” section and didn’t get a thank you or anything. And the sound effects are REALLY loud. But, I give VW mad props for this. They’re making a real effort to understand their consumers, which I can only hope will go back into the creation of new, better and more focused products.

That’s totally insane. I do not have the patience to answer all those questions or listen to those annoying sounds for more than one page of questions.
It was fun to mouse over all over the place and make a little song though, but then again I’m a Golf driver not a Jetta driver.
Haha! Good call Justin. I did the same thing. I’m with you though – I didn’t see why it had to be the Jetta report. Seems rather limiting.
I would have to agree with both of you! VW missed the boat on using this to promote VW’s entire line of products!
Does anybody know where I can get the free promotional DVD for The Jetta Report? I would be willing to pay for it. pwingprod@earthlink.net
