Northgate VW Service Part 2

Alrighty, I just completed Part 2 of having service done at Northgate VW. Both times went extremely well.

This time I had my GTI in for a check engine light. It turns out the thermostat and coolant temp sensor were not acting right, so the guys at Northgate VW replaced both and related parts all under warranty once again.

Everything went very smooth and the employees were extremely friendly. This round took a bit longer than my wife’s Jetta, but that’s not a problem since the repair was more involved.

I got to the dealership at about 8:15am. My car went into the garage at almost 10:00am. It was scheduled for 9:30am, but they were very busy. The diagnosis and repair took just over two hours, but since they began at about 10:00am, it ran into lunch so I was stuck waiting there till after 1:00pm for them to finish up since they took lunch. Hmm, I didn’t get lunch. Oh well.

All in all though, having two different cars go in on two different days yielded a nice experiment into how good or bad Northgate VW’s service department really is. Turns out, they pretty much rock faces in my book.

Good job guys.

  1. It’d have been nice if they offered you some complimentry chips or something. They always assume that people will leave vehicles for this type of work, which I never understood. Bringing in a car for service is already a burden for one person, why the hell should you involve someone else to take you to and from the dealer to have them waste thier time as well? It’d be helpful if they could tell you how long service would take, but they never can. They always say “you customer service representative should be able to tell you the day of the appointment”. That doesn’t really help to avoid that fact that you had to wait longer because your service ran into lunch.

Geez. It’s all such a headache.

Yeah, true dat man. Thankfully they were nice at least. That helps to deal with it. Funny thing is that I could have performed both repairs myself, but then I would have to at least buy the parts, so it’s give and take I guess. :D
