The Tiguan (a combination of the words “tiger” and “iguana”) is based on the Concept A, and is officially deemed a “compact SUV”. VW plans to release it in the 2008 model year. I have to say that I’m not crazy about the name (I personally dug “Nanuk”, which is Eskimo for “small polar bear”) but I love the idea of letting enthusiasts choose it. Instead of releasing just another SUV, VW has generated a buzz among it’s loyalists. If that wasn’t enough, they also released a sketch:

Interesting. I’m very curious to see how this guy will turn out. But what do you guys think of the name?

Meh, it’s ok. I like Nanuk better than that too, but at least they’re using names that both start with “T” for their two SUVs.
Something about that just reminds me so much of a “Liger” - bred for it’s skills and magic, of course.
YES!
It is pretty much the coolest animal ever.
When is the small VW suv for sale in UK showrooms?

Not sure Joe. If I had to guess, it’ll come in the 2008 model year as well. I couldn’t really see them releasing it to the US and not the UK.
