Hi Beth,
Sounds like you turned off traction control. There should be a switch below the center console (by the ash-tray) that says "ESP On/Off" - hit that and see what happens.

A friend of mine left their GTI with me (2006 model?) to drive and doesn't have the manual in the car. There's an indicator light coming on upon start that is gold in color and looks like an arrow moving in the shape of a circle with an exclamation mark in the center. Can anyone tell me what this light means? I've done a search on the web and have found nothing.

Many thanks!

I too, have a perplexing sunroof issue on my 02 Beetle. After non-operation of the sunroof following a battery change, the dealer said it was the motor that was bad. I put a new motor in and still the sunroof would not open. Checked the fuse first of course and it was fine. Then I read about re-setting the auto close feature by opening and closing the driver door lock with the key. This reset seemed to work because the sunroof opened and closed during the procedure which confirmed that the motor was indeed good. Next I replaced the switch that controls the opening of the sunroof and still I had a non operational sunroof. The only other hardware options I could think of would be a relay or circuit breaker and the dealer told me there was none for the sunroof. I was wondering if there is a relay or circuit breaker that anyone knows of, or does the ECM need a re-flash after a battery disconnect to enable the sunroof operation? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Timmau,
Thanks for responding! We solved the problem. Replaced the cargo door light socket (bought new from dealer) and replaced a blown 10 amp fuse. Everything works now!

Greetings - I'm going to have to look into that circuit breaker issue, Wynn (might be too late?)

Patrick - yes - give VW about 2-3 weeks, and you'll get your very own Fast.

For 2003 VW GTI -- How do you reset the circuit breaker that controls the door locks, windows, interior lights, and sunroof? There appears to be no fuse for this function. These items shut off while I was changing a right rear lamp bulb and accidentally damaged the cargo light socket.

I will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
