Just a warning people when putting the filter and frame back in on my 2005 TDI wagon I cut two fingures pretty good on a piece of metal that protrudes from up above where your fingures will be when you guide the filter frame into position . Thats what I get for not wearing gloves and being to lazy to bend down and look in there before sticking my hands in.

I have a 2007 VW Rabbit and this is not the location of the cabin air filter. It is below the glove box and requires minimal effort to replace. No tools required. Better details on youtube

I am trying to replace the cabin air filter on the 2005 VW New Jetta (the Jetta A5 2.5L 5-cylinder). From blogs, it seems that access is either under the hood under the wiper or inside under the dash on passenger side. Help please, which is it? And is the filter a flat square or a wedge-shape? So many filter types.

Hi,
I have VW Polo Saloon, 1999 model.
I tried to find pollen filter compartment, but I could not find anything. Under bonnet, there is not such thing you described here, there is no screw or something. I just found a rubber sealant. In the front passengers's side, there is a compartment, and water leaks under front passenger's dashboard while heavy rain. Is pollen filter compartment here? I just find 2 screw. Please advise me where it should be. I will post image if requires.

If you have a 2007 VW New Beetle Convertible, it doesn't have a pollen filter. I guess they figure with a top that comes down, it doesn't need one. Or would become quickly clogged.

NOTE FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH A 2007 NEW BEETLE CONVERTIBLE: You don't have a pollen filter at all!

I went through the effort of tearing apart my dash as described elsewhere and discovered that instead of a pollen filter, you have a black plastic tub with a screen on top. You can shine a flashlight down into it and see where the hole is leading to the fan. All I could really do in the way of a 40,000 mile maintenance was to vacumn the leaves, dust and dirt from this area.

Hey, good stuff on this site. I have a 2010 Jetta S, and the prior owner smoked. Nasty. I want to change the cabin filter, but it seems that the cars have changed a little. I looked in the location of the video, but its not there. I'll look under the car pocket tomorrow morning...but if its not there, any advice?

thanks,

Hi Dan, I just bought my 3rd Jetta after having a truck for 2yrs. Glad to be back in a VW. I have a 03 Jetta GLI now. I have a few questions,

1. What are your thoughts on a after market warranty for a 03 with 82K, I just replaced a cv joint and boot on the drivers side, that they did not cover due to the boot only slinging grease. I also had some red fluid or G-12 leaking underneath like my truck did when the water pump went out which would be covered, but did not leak the whole time at my vw dealership.

2. At the dealer, they said the car was giving a intermediate code on the MAF, but not failing at this piont. I have had two times where the car is turning over fine, but will not crank to a couple of times pressing on the gas like it is fludded. Also once cranked up idle rough for a minute. Dealer was unable to dupilcate this. I believe this is covered as well, but would not change at this time due to not complete failer. I had it happen again today and every time after starting did not happen again. I did have new plugs and new fuel filter just installed at the dealer.

The dealer also tighten a engine mount bolt that was loose and I still hear some cricking up front, that sounds like structs bearing plates "Firestone" cliams this is what I am hearing. What would you do or fix for this.

The previous owner used 5w40 synthetic and 03 did not have to run this oil, but I want to continue. Would you use Castrol or Moible One full synthetic oil.

Also he used a K and N filter, I replaced it with a Fram filter,t, I heard K and N filters may cause more harm than help the car. What are your thoughts on these filters?

My wife has a VW EOS and loves it, she has a problem with a strong smell when she starts the engine coming through the vents.
She thinks it may be stink bugs that would have got into the car during the past summer when we had swarms of them in Pittsburgh.
It really is a pungent smell have you heard of this.
