Another New ‘Dub?

Yeah, another one. Crazy, huh?
Leftlane News reports that VW may be releasing another new compact car later this month, a model that would actually be smaller and cheaper than the Rabbit. Some speculate it may be dubbed “The Fox”.
My guess? A rebranded Polo. The little guy has been getting alot of love in the press as of late for it’s 62 mpg (that’s a diesel of course). The current Polo is slightly subpar in the safety department by American standards, and originally VW said they wouldn’t bring it over due to the increase in production costs a safety upgrade would bring. This has urked some folks a little. However, if they move quickly, they could take some market share from the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris (certainly the new model would compete with them from a price standpoint). Not to mention all those treehuggers folks that would love to score a hybrid but can’t fit the bill.
We’ll just have to wait and see i guess.

To get an idea for what the Fox is, checkout VW Germany’s or UK’s website (compare to VW Mexico’s Lupo). I’m excited that the small car trend is finally catching on here, especially if we get the TDIs.

Indeed, but I’m not the only one ;)
