Volkswagen GTI MkV in Detail: Tech Specs

I don’t know, maybe my 07 GTI is different or maybe the speedo is messed up, but as I read above it says top speed is 130. On the track I topped it out at 140, is my speedo wrong or is my car just different for being an 07 from an 05? I don’t I just thought I would throw that out there.
Huh, yeah, it could be a model year difference Elliot. I’ll have to check that out for ya.
Your speedo is wrong. Take it to a dealership, they will fix it for you, no charge. It is limited at 130, but perfectly capable of doing much more than that. If you want more speed, go and get a chip for it, but be prepared, if it causes an issue, the fix will come out of your pocket, and it could void your warranty. Have a nice day.
I wouldn’t say the speedo is wrong, its simply limited at 140, where else will the ECM obtain a speed value from, to begin limiting power.
Does anyone know the stock size injectors? And if I wanted to upgrade them, any suggestions? Thanks…
–Rob
Hey Rob, I do not know this off-hand. I suggest posting your question on the VWVortex.com 2.0T engine forum. Hopefully someone there will point you in the right direction!
So I read everywhere that the GTI is governed at 130mph. Mine will not go past 120mph on my speedometer. In 6th gear the revs sit around 4.6k or so. Its capable of much more. I just wanna know why it doesn’t go 130…
Oh yeah. Its a MKV 09 2-door
Hmm, interesting David. Maybe we’re all actually wrong on the limit specs. :P Seriously though, I haven’t heard anything about it lately. Can someone else chime in?
