Volkswagen Releases Official Pics of the IROC Concept

Looks like VW has posted the official pics of the new concept. Check them out after the jump.
While it’s a pretty cool concept, the color immediately throws me off. I know lots of peeps out there dig on crazy colors, like yellows, limes, purples etc., but give me subtlety any day. A nice pure silver, black, deep blue.
The colors aside, it has a strong, wide stance with the now standard monster-huge wheels and tires. I think they fit this design better though than the 20 inchers found on the Eos Highway 1 Concept.
The new frontend reminds me a lot of the current Volvo designs. Not a particular design element per se, but the shape as a whole. I do like this grill and mesh combination better than the new corporate waterfall grill design, but it’s a tad too bulky and agressive. Tone it down and I think we have a winner.
*Insert record scratch sound here* Wait a tic… as I’m writing this and doing further research, I’m thinking to myself… “Self, the IROC sure looks a LOT like a Peugeot.” I dug a little deeper, and discovered the Peugeot Elixir, which debuted in concept clothing at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Check the pics below and compare to the IROC pics following. They’re very similar. Almost too similar. Hmm. Well, regardless of whether VW ripped Peugeot a bit much or not, I still think the IROC, or new Scirocco when it’s launched, will be a hot ride. I’d rock it.

Damn that looks hot.
Trim down that oversized rear spoiler and give me some 18″ instead of those 20″s.
Oh, I finally get the name (after seeing that front license plate).
ScIROCco
Invokes 80’s butt-rock mixed with the iWhatever culture.
Looks very futuristic, like something out of a sci-fi novel. Diggin’ on that interor though. I love the blue.
Hi,
we have seen the pic of death valley. I mean we have seen nothing but we hope the IROC will be great.
The storry of the SCIROCCO must go on…..
