TTAC Reviews the Rabbit

The mighty Truth About Cars gives it’s take on the Rabbit.
Read the write up here.
All in all it’s pretty positive, and a fun read. Some of my favorite parts:
From the rear, the new Rabbit appears unpimped from the Mk 4, repeating the cartoon theme with Power Puff Girls’ eyes taillights.
The Rabbit’s handling is, as always, its strong suit. The car’s electromagnetic steering system feeds back like Slash’s guitar, tracking straight over choppy pavement and adjusting the assistance according to speed.
This Wolfsburgian Rabbit feels a lot more solid than its hecho en Mexico predecessors.
Man, plus 5 for the Powerpuff Girls reference! TTAC’s main concern is the supply & demand issue. Though this is mainly a penetration car for VW, dealers still make next to nothing for each sale. This could lead to some disappointed Rabbit fans…

for the last time…there are no “incentives”. If you want the Rabbit, get in line and buy at sticker like everyone else. If you want a discount, then you have no idea what it is you are buying. Get lost. You’re stinking up the showroom for the people who have a clue
True, there is absolutely no play in the price of the Rabbit.
My conern is that the dealers make so little (if anything) on the Rabbit that they won’t make any attempt to keep them in stock, so the purchases will be made mostly by ‘dub loyalists. The chances of hooking new folks to the line with this car are slim (especially if they have to wait 60 days for one).

I got mine for under dealer invoice. So there is play in the price. I bought mine at a dealership 200+ miles from my house and set the deal up over the phone. Maybe you should get a clue and not pay full sticker, or more, for an economy car.
Wow, good to know Eric. We haven’t heard of anyone getting a deal like that. More power to ya!
Got mine for under or around invoice. 16,700 with the upgraded wheels and tires, for a 2 door base model. Not bad.
Nice job Joel, I’d like to score a Rabbit for that price with the options you got for my wife. :] Too bad her lease isn’t up on her MkIV Jetta for another couple years.
