We’re a bit thrown by the “tin fire guard”. Do you mean on the body of the car, or in one of the wheels?

My husband is a really nice and bought me a 2007 GTI for Mother’s Day. I live on a gravel road and even though I make everyone on the road mad because I drive so slow; it seems I have picked up a rock that rolls around inside the tin fire guard. At least this is what I think. It sounds like I’m dragging cans behind my car and hope the problem can be solved less I have to buy a personalized plate “JUST MARRIED”. Does anyone have this same problem or a solution for me. I have an appointment in 11 days but it drives me crazy. I know this car wasn’t made for gravel roads but I’m only on it a short while before hitting pavement. I love my car but hate the sound, HELP?

Although the entire first page was indeed an off-topic rant, I generally agree with everything he says (people drive crazy fast, but sometimes they need to).

Now, the Phaeton review is also spot on. A very boring looking car, for a very high price. I think it’s interesting that he chose to review the TDI model, of which I proudly declare myself a huge fan of, but this:

“Of course at this point dieselheads — who are like petrolheads only with dirty fingernails and nothing interesting to say..”

Is just plain rude! Diesel heads need their exotic cars just like the rest of the world, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it.
