VW Individual Unveils Touareg Pickup

We found this little gem via our friends at the Autoblog.com, which in turn had discoverd it via Autoscoops.eu.

VW Individual has been toying with the idea of a Volkswagen pickup truck for a while now. Very reminiscent of the AAC concept, it’s rockin 2 doors instead of the 4 the AAC carries and sports a chrome plated rollbar and diamond plate covered bed.

The interior is nice with typical Touareg appointments, but this beast has rich brown leather seating and accents. I’d hit it.

Autoscoops has more photos, so head on over there and check ‘em out.

  1. Holy crap - that actually looks really good. They could get away with that…

  2. Eh, not so digging that one. Makes me thing of the fancy trucks that don’t actually serve a purpose like the Cadillacs or the Honda one that just came out.

This is true, with its snazzy interior and the wood trim on the outside of the door. Makes it too pretty to mess up like a true truck. I don’t know though, if it compared to the leading manufacturers’ trucks, I would have to take a good look at least. :]

I’ve been quietly thinking about a truck now that I’ve got the house. Somebody stop me before I do something rash!! hahah

  4. No offense to VW, but they’re going to have a heck of a time breaking into the already American-dense truck market here in the states.

    Why bother?

Definitely, Patrick. They’ll have a niche market most likely, but to become widespread popular it would prolly take a miracle. Who knows, stuff happens. :D

  6. It looks nice, but I think they’ll have to lengthen the pickup box in order to make it practical. Also, they’ll probably need to offer a variety of powerful engines to attract buyers. Most pickups sold in the U.S. are put to work doing “truck-type” duties, i.e. hauling tools and materials around - that sort of thing. As for competing with the U.S. market, hey, if Toyota can do it with their Titan and Tundra pickups, why can’t VW?

  9. if they’d offer a lightweight diesel pickup they’d have one hell of a smart product. they’d be the only one offering that in north america. i just don’t know if this is the one to offer, but it’d be a good start.
