Skip Your December Payment!

Need some extra scratch for the holidays?
The other day I received a letter from Volkswagen Credit with an interesting opportunity. For a $5 fee, they gave me the option to skip my December payment, and tack it on to the end of my finance term. Of course, interest would continue to accrue on the account during December (something I’m actually free of, due to my 0% rate) and onto the final month of my payments.
While I can’t say I really see a big benefit for VW (I mean, I guess it helps them out in the long run), I can say that it sounds like a pretty groovy deal. Personally, I passed on it. But you folks might want to keep an eye on your mailboxes or give VW Credit a call – especially if you’re short on cash for the holidays.

Most credit card providers offer this service during the holidays.
Hrm – I never got one. Mayhaps I trashed the offers before reading them…
benefit = N x $5
N is number of sign-ups, the greater it is, the greater the benefit. Those folks know how to do business. Never underestimate the power of number.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this was a scam to make money… Article on Consumerist
Good find Justin. I didn’t even think about how they where “targeted to lower income (or irresponsible) borrowers”. And “encouraging people to spend more than they can afford at the holidays.”
Bastards.
