This is where you'd find the spare on Syncro Vanagons and Eurovans that sported 16" rims (compared to the normal 15"). Cool ad, I thought the entire photo was the ad. It wasn't until I clicked through to the original source that I realized the actual ad was attached to the back of a ski-lift. When the wheels get big enough, that’s the only place they can put them.
