Automotive Digest, in prolly the most concise “article” ever, reports that Avis will offer optional Wi-Fi in it’s vehicles nationwide later this year for an additional $10.95 a day. My guess is that this will be targeted at the more high-end business travelers in the beginning, and will eventually appeal more and more to entry level consumers. But is this truly a good thing? Do drivers really need one more distraction behind the wheel? I will say that there have been plenty of times that I’ve been in the car and really wanted to hit the website for my destination, to check and see if they claim to have an item in stock, see if there’s a dress code, etc.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this for sure. You can check out more here.
