Lights Out

Arrrrgh……I HATE replacing lights.
Ok, so I just noticed that my headlight is out on my Golf. After I’ve already replaced a tail light and a license plate light. And I noticed 3 Jettas with burnt out head/tail lights on my way to work this morning. We already know about the tail light recall, but are there bigger gremlins at work here? I’ve never had a car that I’ve had to replace this many lights on.
But maybe I should just consider myself lucky that this is the biggest issue I’ve had with my car (aside from cosmetics), considering the poor reliability of the mark IV generation. And I have had the car for about two and a half years. What about you guys? Any frequent burn outs?

I’ve had to replace several tail lights on our Jetta. Some have been brake lights, sometimes blinkers, but I’ve never had to replace a headlight. Knock on wood.
I had a headlight go out on my Golf 2 years ago. This past week I noticed I have DRL out.
The lamps on my 99 GTI must all have the same life span because I’ve had to replace most of them in the past few months. The head lamps were the absolute worst. You need an engineering degree and teeny tiny fingers to access the stupid housing and then thread the new bulb back in. Here’s hoping I don’t have to do that again any time soon!
my 2000 beetle:
driver headlamp 3X
psngr headlamp 2X
I can’t fix them so I have to pay a mechanic to do it and some here have refused!
For a 7 years old car I don’t know if that’s a bad thing but my husbands ‘86 SAAB has yet to have a headlamp replaced!
I’ll leave this list to lights for now. I doubt my next car will be a VW.
I’ve been paying closer attention to cars with burnt out head/tail lights since I wrote this post, and I’d say that at least half of them are VW’s. I don’t know what the issue is, but VW needs to address it. This is rediculous.
I recently purchased a used VW Beetle in February and it’s now only April and my front right head light is already out WTF; city car share is sounding better every day.
They will replace the lights under warranty at the dealer (they did at mine at least) - you might wanna roll over and check it out.
I have had my 2001 golf for 2 1/2 yrs. now and the only problem i have ever had with it is the brake lights and head lights i have replaced headlights twice and brake lights twice. But like above i can not complain if that is the only issue rather it be a brake light than the transmission or something like that i would rather pay 6 dollars than 3000. Other than that extremely happy with my vw.
