Volkswagen is close to a deal to take over the manufacturing unit of ailing Malaysian carmaker Proton Holdings, according to the Financial Times. Kevin Rose, VW’s head of international sales, said that the company was “very close” to striking a deal that would give it a bigger piece of Southeast Asia’s largest car market, the paper said.
