Monster Mats Rock

The only floor mats I would pay $94 for.
During a fit of spring cleaning on my ride this weekend, I got the first opportunity to hose down my monster mats (the model specific floor mats that VW offers on their DriverGear site) in the year and a half that I’ve owned them. They where disgusting. My girlfriend’s house is back in a wooded area, and every time it rains I track mud into the golf no matter how careful I am. Compounded with the regular dirt and grime from a year and a half, the mats where in dire need of a good cleaning.
I kept putting it off because I figured that it would be a substantial effort. There was alot of crap caked on there, so I figured I’d have to scrub ‘em down a great deal. But all I had to do was dribble some soapy water all over them, let ‘em sit for about 20 minutes and hose ‘em off. And just like that, they’re good as new.
Nice and easy. While they are a bit on the pricey side ($94 for four Golf mats), they absolutely rock. My girlfriend bought a knock off set for her Jetta from AutoZone for about $40, and they haven’t worn well at all. If you’re trackin’ a good deal of mud & grime into your ride, you might wanna look at pickin’ up a set. Those of you looking to pick up a new ‘dub, see if you can get the dealer to throw in a set. They beat the heck outta the standard mats.

I need a set of these mats for my Mk3 Jetta. I am already missing the driver side mat and the other stock carpeted mats are all nasty and torn up.
Definitely looks to be a good investment. :)
That’s good to know since someone is selling a set of GTi Monster Mats for $45 on my local section of Craigslist.
Ohhhh…I’d prolly jump on that. I really dig the GTI ones.
Yeah, monster mats rock muh face. Luckily I scored my GTI ones from Timmau for a pretty penny when he got his MkV. :D I gotta do some serious spring cleaning on both my and my wife’s rides VERY soon.
I’ve been rock’n the monsters in my passat for the last few winter seasons (which are actually about 6 months of the year central New York.)
Agree they are pricey, but I think getting the custom fit (passat’s have very strange foot wells in the front) make the difference when you pull them out and you don’t see the white ring of salt stain in your carpet.
Hmm, I was gonna take mine out last week, but we’re still getting snow a couple of inches at time in April! Curse this infernal weather.
Yeah, we got a freak cold snap this past week and a half as well. It should be closer to 60s-70s right now, and we’ve been having flurries! haha
I recently bought a set of monster mats for my Golf TDI. It took a few minutes of thinking to figure out how I should screw them down. My solution was to screw the black phillips head tack into the pre-existing plate that is inside the hole. Then, I slid the mats in place so that the 2 holes at the bottoms line up with the tack, pressed down, and ‘POP’! they’re in. I will probably be careful and actually unscrew the tacks when I wanna take them out, instead of pulling the mats out from the tacks.
