Don’t You Wish Your Passat Was Hot Like Mine?

Well, maybe not THAT hot! I just came across an article on Bloomberg about Volkswagen being investigated for potential fires in certain model year Passats.

Related only to the 2000 to 2003 model years with the 4 and 6 cylinder gasoline engines, faulty ignition coils can trigger an engine fire.The NHTSA is currently investigating the matter.

* From Bloomberg.com

The inquiry may affect about 346,000 gasoline-powered Passats with four- and six-cylinder engines, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today on its Web site. The fires were in the engine compartment, the instrument-panel area and on the underside of the cars near the catalytic converter, the agency said. No injuries were reported.

  1. Good thing the re-call on ignition coil packs has been out for nearly 5 years. Should be all taken care of by now! Good to know Bloomberg is right on top of the latest news…sheesh!

    Hahah wow, thanks for letting me know about that David. With not having a Passat, that one passed right by me. I hope that everyone does already have it taken care of!

  3. I just purchased a used 2003 Passat 4 cyl. How do I check to make sure that my model is or isn’t part of the recall and what do I do?
