According to Auto Spectator, via SIRIUS.

Volkswagen of America to offer SIRIUS as standard equipment on the 2008 Volkswagen MY Touareg2, 2008 VW New Beetle, 2008 VW New Beetle Convertible, 2008 Volkswagen GTI, and 2008 Volkswagen GLI.

Read the full post here. Apparently you’ll receive 3 months of free service with the purchase of one of the aforementioned ‘dubs. I have to say that I’m fairly disappointed that VW didn’t opt for HD Radio instead. I hate the idea of paying for radio.

  1. I received free three months of Sirius service when I purchased my ’07 GTI back in November of ’06.

I listened for, oh, about three months. I just wasn’t that impressed with satellite radio.

    Especially when NPR is free!

  2. So my Nube came standard with XM and I have subscribed to the service since I got the car. Paying for radio sucks, but man, I love not having to listen to people babble all morning on my drive to work. I was kinda pissed that VW didn’t cover any portion of my satellite service, but I don’t think it’s a bad add-on. Just wish it were optional, cause the equipment automatically costs more (cost me an extra $400).
