I am waiting for the new Jetta wagon as I need a wagon which will be in adition to my 2007 Jetta sedan.
Cant wait.
Love my Jettas.
Have owned 4 and all have been superb.

Welp, I e-mailed Volkswagen the other night regarding the Jetta wagon, asking about the diesel motor, release dates, and such. And I got an e-mail back from VW yesterday. Come to find out, they have a little trick up their sleeve, the e-mail did not state that a “TDI” motor was among the planed line up (“TDI” meaning the 100HP motor released with the 2006 Jetta line up in early 2006.)

However, here is the e-mail I received:

Dear Mathew,

The Jetta SportWagen, a sporty and dynamic wagon version of Volkswagen’s
top-selling model, made its U.S. debut at the 2007 New York Auto Show.
The Jetta SportWagen mixes practicality with European style and balances
both elegance and sportiness.

Like the Jetta, the SportWagen continues the Volkswagen tradition of
offering a long list of standard equipment. Some of the many standard
features include: air conditioning, anti-theft vehicle alarm, cruise
control, CD player, traction control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes,
eight-way adjustable front seats with height, angle and lumbar support
adjustments, and a height-and-telescoping steering wheel.

This MkV version of the Jetta wagon looks better over all than the MkIV version. Looks like VW didn’t slap this one together like they did with the MkIV – IMO.

I’m in the market for a new car. I’m currently driving a 1997 Passat GLX VR6 and I want something that isn’t as large with plenty of cargo capacity. So, I’ve been tossing up between getting a new 07/08 4Dr Rabbit, or waiting out the Jetta wagon.

As for now, I’m waiting it out until the wagons arrive and I can do a comparison test drive between the Rabbit and Jetta wagon. I like that the wagon is a bit longer than the Rabbit. I’m hoping that the Jetta wagons will come with a beefier TDI (170 HP anyone?) option. Fuel economy, cargo, and-of course-cost will decide my choosing.

As for “sweet” features, I like the panorama sunroof option. I’m looking forward to seeing the new wagons.

It looks exactly like what it is: a Jetta wagon. Given that I don’t particularly like the Jettas, this chunkified version isn’t a whole lot better, but it’s not horrifying either. The Jetta wagons never look as good as the Passat versions. It was the same with the last generation.

Hahaha! Awesome. I’m starting to warm up to it. The lines on the windows remind me of an A4 Avant. But it’s still nothing really to write home about.
