The New New Beetle

Looks like the New Beetle is going “Ragster”.

Our buddies over at oneighturbo just posted pics of a New Beetle design – and it is lookin’ mean.

The hacked roof line combined with (what appears to be) a lower, more aggressive stance makes this baby look tough and takes a step toward emasculating the New Beetle a bit more. I really like the overall look, but I’m starting to feel that VW is riding this design a little too far out. It sounds like this design will be introduced to the marketplace in 2009, taking it well over a decade old (since Spring ‘98). But you don’t have to take my word for it (cue Reading Rainbow tune):

I still dig it though. Mainly, I’m thrilled I was able to work a Reading Rainbow reference into a post.

  1. Dooood. o_0 One-hundred-million bonus points for dropping Reading Rainbow. :D

  2. ya these look great, mean and where they needed to be a few years ago. obviously VW’s design weren’t at this point but…. the New Beetle is a bit watered down now and I’m not sure who they will/would capture and how many repeat New Beetle owners would upgrade. Also, with an look liek this the engine offering will need to be spot on. R32 engine

as for reading rainbow… how’s RUN-DMC sound to ya
