Edmunds Inside Line just posted up a great spy video of the proposed 2010 Volkswagen Rabbit in testing action.
This little guy will go on sale in Europe first as the 2009 Golf in late ‘08. Last minute design changes have pushed back its production, so release in the U.S. will most likely be in the 2009 model year, hence making it an ‘10 model. On a side note, exactly how will we pronounce ‘10 anyway?
Head on over to Edmunds Inside Line and watch the video. They’ve got some photo shots as well. One thing about the video… could it be any lower quality? I know it’s a spy video and all, but it’s so compressed I can hardly see anything. lol

Hrm. Looks like it might boast some rather minor upgrades. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
I hope they keep the 2.5L 5 cylinder, in the new rabbit. The TSI 1.4 in the euro golf does not compare to this fine engine, and the TSI 1.4l needs the expensive super premium, and does not sound as good, I know i drove one.
Looks like the front and rear changes are going to be Tiguan-themed updates.
As the video stated, the motors will stay the same, with TDIs optional. The video also said “…greater availability of diesels…” - Maybe they plan to ship/build more TDIs than they have in the past, or 2 TDI options?
Either way, this’ll be a Mk5.5 - no Mk6 yet.
