Volkswagen has set some ambitious goals for itself — some say too ambitious. The German automaker wants to reach annual sales of 10 million vehicles globally by 2018 in an effort to catch market leaders GM and Toyota. One idea the company believes will help it get there is a plan to streamline its product-development process using four modular architectures, according to a report in Automotive News Europe. This shift would cut development time by as much as a year and reduce costs by 25 to 40 percent, according to the automaker. Via blogs.motortrend.com
