Mark, found the problem on my 2009TDI headlight problems. The in cab fuse block checked out ok so started checking out wireing. found nothing. Just for the heck of it I started checking fuses in the under hood fuse block and found loose fuse. All working now. I’m like you with no help from VW my dealer said that it could be >800.00 bucks. A great incentive to look on my own. No help with the proper fuse block for my car or no help with a schematic. It does seem that they want to have the car in their shop. Wonder what they would have charged for a loose fuse?

Mike, my 2009 tdi did the same thing as yours. Now it just stays off. Checked fuse and bulbs all ok. if you find anything would like to hear.

2009 Jetta TDI both the RT dip light and main headlight goes out for a few days at a time. Dealer has no clue and wont give me any info. It looks like its losing the ground question is where is the ground and did VW for some dumb reason route the ground thru a relay some where?

Googled to figure out how to replace a turn signal on my 2000 VR6 Jetta and came here. Even after reading your warning about breaking that clip, I still broke the clip!
It’s even colder here in Canada.

I have a 2006 VW Jetta. Everything was fine with my headlights and then all in one day my lights quit working. The DRL and the bright lights work fine, but my normal lights don’t. Do you think this is the bulbs, fuse, or something electrical

Mikka – I recently replaced both low beam lights on my 2006 Jetta TDI with no problems.

Once you undo the outside cover (pickle jar cover) grasp the “S” shaped post and turn it slightly to the left (as you are standing in front of the bumper / facing the light). You should feel it give (it doesn’t take much – maybe 1/8 turn). Once you have it loose, pull it out, replace bulb, re-insert and turn slightly to the right (you will be able to tell it is snug). Replace outside cover and you are good to go!

Any insight / instruction on replacing the front parking light (small bulb W5W)? Can I pull it from behind of do I have to take the assembly off?

I have an 86 Jetta GLI. When I turn the headlights or parking lights on, the lights come on but the instruments all go off. The high beam indicator glows, but the high beams are not on.
After a while (about 10 minutes of driving this morning) the tack comes back on and the instruments are normal again.
Any ideas?

I have a 2000 Jetta 2L gas and the daytime running lights don’t work. to make it even harder I don’t have a O/M.

Hey billy, hmm. Could be a problem with the turn signal relay. Her's a how-to on replacing it. Not sure if you can track down whether that's the problem or not before actually doing the replacement. Oh, just saw at the bottom of that how-to that there was a recall out on this for some Jetta models. Maybe drop by the dealer about it and you could score a free repair. Let me know how it goes!

oops! My left front blinker (headlight blinker) will not work, however the running/parking light still comes on…. what gives?
