Das Auto: Volkswagen Advertising Strikes Again

You can always count on Volkswagen to pull out some of the wackiest commercials.
We’re a little late to the game, as usual lol, but I’m sure you’ve seen the latest round of Volkswagen commercials making their rounds on primetime TV. Their new campaign, called Das Auto: It’s What the People Want, attempt’s to reinforce VW’s place in pop culture.
I’ve seen three four versions of these new commercials so far, featuring Richard A. Searfoss (space shuttle commander), Heidi Klum, Bob Knight, and none other than…. wait for it…………………. The HOFF himself, David Hasselhoff.
Overall, I like the commercials’ cheekiness, but as Matt said while we were checking them out, they do seem a bit forced. Will the average consumer appreciate them? I’m sure Volkswagen fans will, but potentially new owners? I don’t know. I guess it would attract the right kind of people.

Hadn’t seen those yet, but I did notice that little beetle on the vw.com home page recently. Last one is the best, for sure.
The little Beetle dude’s name is Max. They’ve been teasing him and this campaign on the “Live Polling” feature on vw.com. Check out the official press release. He’s a witty little dude.
Oh and for those advertising nerds out there, this campaign was once again spear-headed by Crispin Porter.
Tks Beckers! You and your advertising sense. hahaha :P
These are awesomely clever. The Atlanta Auto Show display had these commercials and a bunch from Europe – which were just as clever.
Hey … don’t miss the “Clean Diesel TDI” Das Auto Ad!
new work from crispin absolutely sucks
they are going to die on the vine
Hey… on another note does anyone know the name of the song in the new 2008 Passat Das Auto commercial… I think its called “All the things” but I can’t find anything about it.
Thanks
No clue here, but maybe someone else will chime in with it. :]
