The versatility of the GTI’s hatchback enables my wife and I to feed our IKEA fetish.
We wanted to avoid asking our neighbor to borrow his small pick-up to make the trip to the ginormous blue and yellow box. Not because we don’t like him. Far from that. lol We just didn’t want to inconvenience him, and we got a chance to see what else ol’ Indigo could handle.

GTI Contents include:
- One entertainment unit consisting of 5 or so large boxes, rails for sliding doors
- Coffee table – one large box
- New hedge trimmer
- Dewalt drill and case
- Laundry drying rack
- One 6′ 3″ husband
- One 5′ 3″ wife
IKEA Livingroom In-Progress:

LOL
That’s awesome. Now I know how much stuff my Golf can carry home from IKEA.
My 2000 Beetle has me perplexed once again. Having had a flooded floorboard on Christmas day I was covering my bug until I resolved the problem. I keep my cover in the trunk and What once took a nice push to close the hatchback now takes three maybe four tries to close. Any idea of what might be the matter?
Hmm, is the cover pushing against the hatch door when closed, mauibug? Be sure to check the seals around the door as well as the latch mechanism and the hydraulic struts that hold it open.
Does the same when empty. How do I get to the latch mechanism. I’ve heard that it may be as easy as WD40 fix??
Hey mauibug, I apologize for my delay in getting back to you. I’m not sure what could be going on there, but I suggest that you <a href=”http://newbeetle.org/forums/”visit the NewBeetle.org Forums and ask some people there about the problem. They can give you a much more focused answer than me, I think. I hope they can get it patched up for ya!
