New Microbus: if VW won’t Build it, Someone Else Will

One of our neighbors to the north, Alexandre Verdier, plans to reinvent the microbus. Any takers?
This is a neo-hippie dream. The van, dubbed the Verdier, draws its power from a solar panel (that relies on an onboard GPS system to reposition itself to catch the most sunlight and attain the maximum possible charge) but can also run on vegetable oil. The Verdier also expands to become a full camper (or a “small house”) complete with a home theater and other gizmos. Just go ahead and start salivating:

Verdier claims to have a manufacturer lined up (take a friggin’ hint VW!) and hopes to have prototypes on the road this summer. if you’ve got a spare $129,000 laying around I suggest you pick one up and take your friends at VB for a ride. :)
Head on over to Wired for more info & pics. Then head to any VW based site and start ranting about how VW isn’t the one making it.

This is great! :D *thinks about how to legally raise $129,000*
I want one! [checks wallet for $130k]. Errr on second thought, I’ll take a poster.
