McMinn County may not have any $1 billion plants moving in presently, but with two coming to the nearby area the county stands to benefit significantly from both. Volkswagen has already initiated construction of its automobile assembly plant in North Chattanooga, and fellow German company Wacker Chemie recently announced its intentions to build a polysilicon production facility in Charleston to supply raw materials to the solar panel industry.
