Happy Birthday Volksbloggin!!!

Two years ago we released the happy little infant Volksbloggin into the wild. While it still had saliva trickling down its chin, we started with our first post (which was actually written a month before we went live) about the “Wide-Hip Syndrome in Automotive Design“. Since then we’ve cranked out over 800 posts and had 167,000 unique visitors, served up 429,000 page views, been featured on many CSS galleries and even made it into the 9rules network.

So with the birthday looming, our faithful leader Dan rolled up his sleeves and cranked out this fantastic redesign. He has spent many tireless hours to make this day so much more special. We all owe Dan a big tip of the cap for all his work. Great job Dizzle!!!

We’re also incredibly stoked to introduce two brand spankin’ new writers to the team: Justin Perkins and Ben Guild. Welcome guys! We’re very excited to have you on board.

But finally we want to thank you, loyal VB readers! Without you none of this would be possible. We really hope to attract even more readers and really make VB a humble little community for all VW heads. And if you ever have any suggestions on how to make Volksbloggin better, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

EDIT: It's LIVE!! W00H000! Hello faithful readers and search engine... searchers. The day has finally come. Volksbloggin.com's first redesign will go live tonight around midnight (give or take) in celebration of its two year anniversary! Aside from having a brand-spanking new face, we will also bring two new writers on board who will introduce themselves shortly after the 2.0 launch. Stay tuned!

We had updated our backend system last night and didn't discover this error until this afternoon. Whoops... we've been taking our winter break a bit too seriously and should have been checking on things more often. ;) Anywho, hopefully everything seems fine for you now!

Our Web Host is Pissing Me Off, Big Time

The problems only started occurring after the migration to the so-called “Grid Server” system which promised the world to MT customers. Well, it definitely hasn’t been a bed of roses since. I’ve held off with a major rant about this long enough. Though it’s not VW-related, if we can’t serve up Volksbloggin, what’s the point?

Anywho, I better settle down and see if they can hold uptime for at least three days straight. If you can read this, woohooo! Otherwise, please be patient and we apologize on behalf of our host.

Host Migration: Sorry for the Extended Downtime

Well, sometime yesterday evening the migration to bigger and better servers was finished up. We apologize for the (vastly) extended downtime from Saturday through Sunday. We were supposed to be down for at most a couple hours, but ended up down for almost a day. Anywho, we're back!
